In winter of 1978, my last winter in Afghanistan, a small group of us decided to trek through the snowy mountains of Paghman and Karez-Amir.  Five of us - Khalid, Tariq, KK, Gosain and I left Kabul early on a cold morning and hitch-hiked on a local bus full of "naswar-spitting" afghans to the outskirts of Karez-Amir.  I remember it being a bright, sunny but cold day.  We trekked through the mountains in several inches of snow and at the top of one particular hill, we sat down for lunch and a little relaxation.  We piled up a bunch of snow to form a snow-man.  Someone (who shall remain nameless!) stuck two short brush like twigs under the nose of the snowman and made it resemble Mr. Arora, the principal.  Later, the mustache was removed and a certain feature was added to turn the snow-MAN into a snow-WOMAN!
